a week to remember

the first week of med school was absolutely GREAT. lots of freebies from different orgs kept coming in. plus free food here, free food there. and of course, the foam party was totally fun. free booze and partying 'til the day ends. and to top it all off, our new classmates are amazing. 1 summa cum laude, 27 magna cum laudes, and 57 cum laudes. such great minds.

the first few days may be a blast, but it's a sure thing that the coming days would be tough. as of now, i've got 66 effing pages of reading assignment, which i haven't finished yet. and there's this reaction paper we have to submit on monday. i'm still not quite in the mood for school. i hope this laziness comes off right away especially since we're going to have an exam on the 23rd. my my.

there's this thing that's been bugging me for days. to join or not to? but which one? a friend says there's no pressure, but i feel there is. i should just make up my mind.

FINALLY

so after about 7 months, i am writing out of extreme boredom once again. yay! i should really thank high heavens for this long break, BUT this summer's slowly turning into a bummer. everyone i know is practically busy with summer class and my, i have nothing left to do! it's utterly silly that i complain a lot when i'm given tons of work. now that i'm given more than enough time for rest and relaxation, i find myself complaining again. guess i'm just not used to slacking anymore. i live a VERY busy life, yes. and i understand that i definitely need a break. but i think being unproductive for two months would be sooo unhealthy (well, for me at least). i am looking forward to finally being in med school.

i've realized that ever since i entered college, my appetite has become really big. i can basically go through a day of nonstop eating and still feel like i have an empty stomach. it's pretty weird. and it's quite alarming at the same time. i should start learning how to curb my appetite so that come med school, i won't be ingesting too much anymore. and i need to stay fit for more doses of stress (hello buckets of coffee). but i figured starvation won't work well for a person like me who loves binging. i am not anorexic nor bulimic, and i will never be. the best thing to do now is to get more physical. i have this sudden urge of going to the gym and having work out sessions. haha crazy me. but why not? =P

lately, i've been involving myself in quite a lot of personal talks with former schoolmates, which is really good since i need a lot of catching up. two years of intarmed shiz turned me into a study freak, and i admit that my social life became non-existent for a pretty long while. well, so much for making myself believe that i'm living a perfectly normal life. it amazes me how different the people i know have become. and i'm really glad that some have gotten past their life crises and realized that they need to come out of their closets. =] the life-changing conversations made me realize how much i miss all the sharing and talking. okay, much has been said.

ANYWAY. i can't really hide my excitement for the coming semester. come june (or july perhaps), we'll be donning white uniforms, wearing nameplates, dissecting the real thing, and studying the essentials (no more calculus, organic chemistry, religion, sts, and other unimportant ones for us! woohoo!). i have been waiting for this time to come, yet apart from the happiness i feel, there's this hint of nervousness. i just hope med school turns out to be fine for me, because in the first place, i wasn't thinking of becoming a doctor before this whole intarmed thing entered my world. but there's no turning back now. i should and i have learned to love the course despite all the struggling (or should i say suffering?). whatever. this is the more important thing now: pre-med's over. finally.

saved by the rain

thank heavens, classes are suspended! now i've got more time to study for my freaking exams tomorrow. haha. how i wish Aug 9, '07 would be erased from the calendar. i have no idea how i'm going to stuff all the information in my head. cat muscles. cat bones. physiology. history of art. physics crap. oh nooo. but amidst all the tensor fasciae latae and the transverse processes of God-knows-what vertebrae, i still found time to update this blog. haha. plus i changed the skin pa. what waste of time. but i badly need a break because my sanity's at stake. so lalala i'm really really glad that manila is flooded right now.

hah. and one more thing that makes me happy is the fact that i managed to pass our org chem exam. i'm probably overreacting, but what the hell, that's organic chemistry. it's like one of the subjects most people dislike. and i mean really dislike. so there.

right now, i am sort of exhausted. i haven't slept for days already, and i dunno when i'm ever going to have 8 hours of peaceful sleep. the sched's so hectic, the subjects are extremely demanding, and it's times like these when i have thoughts of regretting why i chose to be here. but then again, it's no use crying over spilt milk. i may miss the illumina people badly, but i still get to see them once in a while. never mind if i'm overburdened with all the schoolwork given to us, at least i satisfy my parents' expectations. never mind if i don't sleep at all, i still get the satisfaction that comes with knowing i passed my subjects through my own efforts. never mind if i'm not normal anymore. never mind. never mind. never mind. i sound so bitter. well... i really am - slightly. =P but then again... the semester's gonna be over soon, and i've got another semester to go before i wear the white uniform - before i dissect the real thing (and not cats anymore), and i should say that this gives me more than enough reason to stop whining and just hang on.

the heat is becoming unbearable. it's freakin' hot in manila! and it makes my head hurt like hell. math 101 + PI 100 + extreme heat = major headache. hmph.
